A Summer Seafood Feast Al Fresco

Hello everyone.  I hope you are all having a fantastic week so far.

It’s August 14th and in blogland, that means getting ready for the autumn season with brand new recipes, home decor and home decorating ideas.  And I am gearing up for a Transition from “Summer to Fall” Home Tour on Tuesday, August 21 with a group of 20 talented bloggers that will be sharing ideas for transitioning your home into fall.

But in the meantime, I am still savoring every bit of warm weather and sunshine.  Of course, that includes dining al fresco!  There are so many things to celebrate this time of year so why not take the party outdoors.  It’s fun and keeps things easy.

Summer also means Seafood Season and we do love our seafood around here. And with this in mind, I planned a dinner party with a coastal feel in mind.  A casual backyard Seafood Feast that was actually quite simple to put together.

I wanted my table to have a blue and white color scheme so I started with a white drop-cloth tablecloth and blue and white place mats.   Stylish paper plates keep cleaning easy and fast.  Decorating my place setting is a striped napkin which I folded in to a sail boat.  This simple addition added endless visual interest and whimsy to the table setting while acrylic glassware kept things worry-free.

Small galvanized metal pails hold extra napkins, lemons, seafood picks and crackers.  Best part, they also serve as a wastebasket for the lobster shells

We like to combine grilled lobsters and a one-pot shrimp boil along with a few traditional trimmings and sides.  This makes for a party that does not require a major production to host and one that allows you to sit back, relax and enjoy, along with your guests.

Cheers to Summer Entertaining,
